Vote could be coming on Dougherty County micro-brewery

Dougherty County commissioners could vote in two weeks on whether to allow a micro-brewery.

Monday, the county attorney told commissioners the 70-day limit to take action on the rezoning request of Morgan III Properties is approaching. The developer wants to build the $3 million development on 29-acres on Walker Ducker Station Road.  Commissioners tabled the request after after nearby plantation owners complained.

"We're in communications with the microbrewery and the investors and they have a right to have an up or down vote. In the meantime we're conducting our own evaluation of our existing zoning regulations so that we can determine whether or not we are being as business friendly as we need to be," said County Commission Chairman, Chris Cohilas.

Monday commissioners voted to have the planning commission develop new agri-tourism zoning regulations to help farmers make more money off their land.
