Public's help needed in arson investigation

James Clinkscales James Clinkscales

Valdosta fire investigators were having a tough time as of Monday getting leads in their latest arson investigation, so Monday they were asking for your help.

The fire department spent the weekend investigating the Friday evening fire at 708 Lakeland Ave. A fire in a back bedroom of the home around 5 p.m. caused heavy smoke and fire damage to the room.

Valdosta's fire marshal, Cpt. James Clinkscales, said no one was living in the home when the fire broke out Friday and it appeared that someone broke in through a back window.

"There was no indication what could have or who could have started it. Any help from the general public would be greatly appreciated," Cpt. Clinkscales emphasized.

Call the Valdosta Fire Department at (229) 333-1835 if you have any information.
