GBI investigates Sycamore shooting

SYCAMORE, GA - The GBI is investigating after a Worth County Deputy's fiancee was shot in the upper leg.

J.T. Ricketson, with the GBI, says they believe this was an accident, and not a targeted crime.

Ricketson says Worth County Deputy Wilfred Dowdy, and his fiancee were at their home on Carter St. in Sycamore when they heard gun shots outside their home around 10:30 p.m.

Michasia Harris was taken to Tift Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Ricketson says its possible this could have been celebratory gun fire.

The GBI is asking anyone who might have seen something to contact law enforcement.
