THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

An enormous American flag is gaining lots of attention as folks drive by on Highway 84 in Thomasville.

As cars zoom by, many drivers are showing their approval for this giant flag displayed in front of Auto Doctor.

“Semis going down the road, blowing their horn, honking at it. It's drawing a lot of attention,” said owner Monte Ott.

Ott said he's owned Auto Doctor for almost 23 years now and he's always tried to stay true to his country.

“We try to buy American-made bolts, American-made products, American-made belts to put on American-made cars,” he said.  “So it employees American people.”

But for the past week, employees went one step further to show their American pride. They hung up a flag, which was recently donated to them by Flowers Bakery.

It took mechanics several hours to hang up this 15x25 ft. flag.

They said it weighs close to 200 pounds, but it was a labor of love.

“So many people have died for that flag,” said long-time customer Emory Watkins, “and it's a blessing for our country.  And we represent that flag.”

Watkins is a veteran who served in Vietnam. He said when businesses show their appreciation for servicemen and women, he'll return the favor.

“Anything that supports our nation should be supported,” said Watkins.

And while showing support, the flag is also bringing in more business.

“It has had a positive influence on our sales. We really like that!” said Ott.

They plan to display the flag until after Independence Day.
