Valdosta shooting suspect arrested

The suspect believed to have shot up a car at 306 Simpson St. in Valdosta around 10:45 p.m. on June 27th was behind bars Thursday evening.

According to a press release from the Valdosta Police Department Thursday evening, 36 year old Earl Horne, III was arrested at his job and charged with the shooting.

The following is the release from the Valdosta Police Department:

On July 2, 2105 at approximately 5:45 pm, Valdosta Police Department Detectives arrested Earl Horne, III, 36 year old Valdosta resident in relation to the discharge of firearms on Simpson Street.

Horne was arrested at his place of employment without incident. Horne has been charged with  Reckless Conduct (misdemeanor) as he discharged a firearm at a vehicle in the immediate presence of  a person who was standing near the vehicle.  He has also been charged with Criminal Damage to  Property – 2nd degree (Felony) for causing damage to the vehicle with damages exceeding a cost of  $500.00.

The weapon has not been recovered at this time.  Detectives are interviewing Horne at this time and he will be transported to the Lowndes County Jail. It appears that this incident stemmed from an earlier domestic dispute.  This was not a random shooting as the persons at the residence and the offender were known to one another.

The VPD Bureau of Investigations did a great job of quickly identifying the offender and resolving the case.
