At least one fireworks retailer just across the state line in Florida said business was still good even though exploding fireworks were, as of July 1st, legal in Georgia.
Cindy Guilmette, manager at the TNT Supercenter off of exit 467 in Jennings, FL said retailers have to order their fireworks months in advance and because many stores were just beginning to open up in South Georgia as of Thursday they may not have had the bigger fireworks that became legal to buy and sell in Georgia on July 1st in stock yet.
But, Guilmette also said she wasn't mad that the new law in Georgia that went into affect Wednesday and made the bigger fireworks legal may take some of her customers away.
"I enjoy it for the people in Georgia because most of our customers are from Georgia. So, it makes our customers in Georgia happy," said Guilmette."
She said in 2016 though the store would likely notice a significant decrease in business. But she was also confident that many Georgians will still make the trip across the state line to get some fireworks.
