Heavy police presence on duty for Albany Fourth of July Celebration

Albany city officials say everyone should be confident of their safety at the downtown Fourth Of July Celebration.
Every officer not on regular patrol Saturday night will be on duty around the Civic Center and riverfront.
Police say this is a family event.
They don't want parents just to drop off children.
The Gang Unit and plain clothes officers will also be on watch.

Albany Police Captain Angel Bradford said "There will be security.  There will be officers on foot, on bicycles and cars. On ATV's, standing on the street corners.  But there will not be an issue with violence."
Police say no alcohol, weapons, or fireworks will be allowed downtown.
They encourage everyone to head downtown and enjoy the professional fireworks show Saturday night.
