CRISP CO., GA (WALB) - County leaders want to make sure senior citizens are taking advantage of tax breaks.
The county is one of a few in Georgia that allows exemptions on part of school and county taxes for property owners over 65.
Seniors who are approved get $20,000 taken off their taxable property values for school taxes.
"It will give you the opportunity to take advantage of a discount with your taxes. You pay school tax probably all your kid or all of your adult life," said Crisp County Tax Commissioner Cricket Adkins.
County commissioners approved taking $10,000 off county taxes as well.
Seniors must apply for the exemptions at tax assessor's office.
