THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A former Thomasville city employee is charged with felony theft after police said she stole thousands of dollars from the city's finance department.
Cristy Walden, 31, was arrested early yesterday morning.
City employees notified police after they discovered an employee was requesting checks be made out to her.
Police Chief Troy Rich said auditors quickly determined the source of the problem.
"She was able to understand the process and the timeline and was obviously hoping that she wouldn't be caught," said Chief Rich.
Walden was fired from her job at the finance department Wednesday.
She is still in the Thomas county jail with a $6,000.
