ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Police say they are at the scene of an armed robbery at the Neighborhood Grocery Store on Johnson Road between 9:45 and 10 a.m.
Investigators reported that two black men wearing all black clothes and masks entered the store. One of them had a gun.
The Neighborhood Grocery in the 700 block of Johnson Road was robbed at gunpoint by black men, dressed all in black, one armed with a pistol. The men demanded money from the clerk, and when they got it ran away.
After shots were fired at a clerk Tuesday at the A & D Food Store, police warn store employees to be on watch. Albany Police Media Manager Phyllis Banks said "We are very concerned about this. We don't want business owners, business employees to be relaxed at this point. Because it is close to the holidays, we want them to make sure they are all being aware of individuals who come inside the store."
Neighborhood Grocery manager Sonny Patel says he thinks it was the same men involved in both robberies. Police are checking.
"I'm pretty sure that's something detectives will be looking into. To see if there is some sort of connection. But that connections has not been made at this time," Banks said.
Police urge store employees to make frequent bank deposits to keep excess cash out of their store, and make sure their surveillance video equipment is working.
Police also urge store employees to comply and never confront robbers. If you have any information about either of this week's robberies, call CRIMESTOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
Police said it was the second armed robbery over the past three days.
