Sentencing could be scheduled in Salmonella trial

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Sentencing could soon be scheduled for three people convicted in a deadly salmonella outbreak traced to a Blakely peanut plant.

Last September, a federal jury convicted Peanut Corporation of America owner Stewart Parnell, his food broker brother Michael Parnell, and PCA secretary Mary Wilkerson.
Prosecutors say the company knowingly shipped salmonella-tainted products and covered up lab tests.

Wednesday, Judge Louis Sands asked attorneys from both sides to pick a sentencing date at least 45-days from now.
