Man charged in Ocilla stabbing

OCILLA, GA (WALB) -

Police have charged Nicholas Battle with aggravated assault Tuesday night. Police said more charges could follow.

Police said that they responded to a report of a stabbing around 2:42 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. When they arrived at North Elm Street, they noticed a man named Nicholas Battle wearing a red shirt and a blue jeans running from the location.

While searching the area police found a woman named Shonteice Pickett in front of the residence stabbed in the back of the neck.

A witness stated that Battle stabbed Pickett.

Officers were able to locate Battle in a vacant lot off of North Oak Street.

Pickett was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. Her condition is stable. She has received stitches in the neck. She is expected to be okay.
