AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Lauralee Bernstein is back home after traveling around the country to raise money for the Sumter County Humane society.
The former city chief administrative officer and her "pet" coyote Coco traveled to all 48 continental states in 39 days. She raised more than $2,000 and hopes to raise more.
"I touched every single state and talked to every person that I could in every single state whether it was the McDonald's, the gas station, the humans society, a national park, that are now aware that this place exists and that there are people out there that support causes," said Bernstein.
The trip covered more than 12,000 miles. Bernstein hopes to write a book about her travels. To donate to the humane society, click
