Severe thunderstorm watch affects several counties

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

We should be on the lookout for potential severe weather. Winds as high as 60 miles an hour were reported in Seminole County earlier today.

There is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 9:00 tonight for these counties- Baker, Calhoun, Clay, Decatur, Dougherty, Early, Grady, Lee, Miller, Mitchell, Quitman, Randolph, Seminole, and Terrell.

There is a report of a tree down northern Lowndes County. Thomas County had several trees and power lines down just north of Thomasville. We have a report of some downed trees near Oakfield.

Thunderstorms are likely early in the evening then partly cloudy with chance of showers and thunderstorms in the late evening and overnight. Some thunderstorms may be severe with damaging winds and large hail early in the evening. Lows in the lower 70s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. chance of precipitation 60 percent.

Wednesday will be partly sunny with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 90s, with west winds 5 to 15 mph.
