VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Valdosta Fire Department was looking forward Tuesday to soon have two new fire trucks.
The money for two new engine trucks is part of the city's fiscal year 2016 budget, which passed on June 25th.
Battalion Chief Ronald Skrine said the engine trucks the department had as of Tuesday were around 16 years old and were often tied up in the repair shop and unavailable for use.
He said the new trucks would allow the department to better serve the citizens. "With the new truck, we'll be able to provide the same service and better service to a degree. We will be able to carry more water. The new trucks will have 1,000 gallons as opposed to 500 gallons on the old trucks," explained Bat. Chief Skrine.
As of Tuesday, the trucks were expected to arrive by the end of 2015.
