Monday gunfire in Valdosta could be connected to weekend gunfire

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police were investigating Tuesday another case of shots being fired.

According to police, the gunfire was a result of an argument that was taking place outside apartment 101 in the Hudson Dockett housing complex at 807 S. Fry St. around 10:15 p.m. Monday.

Valdosta Police Department Cpt. Bobbi McGraw said that when officers arrived on scene, witnesses told them that a few people who had been in the group that was arguing went to the side of another apartment building in the housing complex and shortly after gunshots were heard.

Cpt. McGraw said that as of Tuesday investigators believed this may have stemmed from an argument that happened in the same general area Saturday night, and which also led to gunfire.

"We have had some witnesses say, 'hey, this could be the same guy; this may be related,'" Cpt. McGraw explained. "But, we don't have anything concrete that says it's related at this point."

No one was hurt in either incident, but a bullet from the incident on Monday night did get lodged in a window casing of one of the apartments in the housing complex.

Cpt. McGraw added that witnesses also saw a red car leaving the scene after the gunshots were heard.

Anyone having any information regarding either incident is asked to call VPD at (229) 293-3091 or (229) 293-3145.
