ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Georgia Historical Society is recognizing Thronateeska for its commitment to preserving the past.
Thronateeska has processed and stored dozens of artifacts and historical documents that are now available to the public.
It's part of their South Georgia Archives Project. Important records are now stored in a climate controlled area.
“It just adds to what we have to offer here, of course we have the science museum, the planetarium, the history museum, and it just adds another element to what we are doing here, in preserving our area history and those stories that are so important,” says Tommy Gregors, with the Thronateeska Heritage Foundation.
Several documents are also now available digitally.
