ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dozens of High school students from across the state will compete in a robotics competition in Albany tomorrow.
Preparations were underway today for Albany Tech and GeorgiaFIRST Robotics "Bash of the Summer X-BOTS regional scrimmage competition."
20 teams from across the state will compete in the event.
Organizers say if tomorrow's trial scrimmage is successful, they plan to hold a regional competition in Albany every year.
"We wish we can have everyone in attendance from the Albany area, since we're trying to help bring a new culture to the Albany area since its embraced us as a team," said Keimon Jefferson, Albany Tech Student.
"We do these off season scrimmages to help with teams so we know what we're getting into and so we expect to run pretty smoothly," said Meggie Boler, Asst. Director for Walton Robotics.
Students from Albany, Monroe, Dougherty, and Calhoun County High Schools and Albany Tech's Summer robotics program will represent Southwest Georgia in the competition.
The free event will kick off at the Albany Civic Center tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.
