ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Workers in the Probate office are preparing for some changes, now that the U.S. Supreme Court has legalized gay marriage.
Judge Nancy Stephenson says they've had a lots of folks inquire about getting married. She says the change is effective immediately, so any gay couples who want to get married can, but says the forms are still not changed.
"We could still issue a license at this point to a same sex couple, but we would have to ask them to tell us which one was the bride and which one was the groom because that is how the form is set out," she said.
She says by next week their electronic forms should be updated and changed to 'applicant one and two.'
