Some Dougherty and Lee County special needs children enjoyed some fun in the sun Friday.
Camp Good Times and Camp Sunshine had their first ever joint pool party at the Albany Elks Lodge on Gillionville Road.
Organizers wanted to bring the two groups together so these special needs children can interact, swim and have a pizza party.
"A lot of our kids don't get to go to camp. And this just gives them an opportunity to get out and to have a good time. And it not all be about the education, yet they are still learning how to get along with each other, and social skills and all that good stuff," said Melissa Pollock, the Director of Camp Good Times.
Organizers hope to make this an annual event.
The camps are funded through Easter Seals of Southern Georgia. And Camp Sunshine recently received a grant from the Albany Exchange Club to expand.
