Crossfit coach raises money to compete in national competition

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A South Georgia man is raising funds so he can compete in a Crossfit competition against athletes across the world.

50-year-old Billy Goodson is a 229 Crossfit Coach and will be competing against 20 other athletes ages 50 to 54 in the Crossfit Games in Carson, California next month.

This is his first time competing in the competition.

This weekend 50 Crossfit athletes in South Georgia will compete in the "California Love" competition to help raise money for Goodson's travel expenses.

"I've got a lot of volunteers that are going to help us run the event," said Billy Goodson, 229 Crossfit Coach. "I've got a lot of people from different cities that are coming to compete and I'm sure that they are doing it because they want to compete, but they're doing it because they want to help me, so I'm very humbled by that."

The competition will kick off at 229 Crossfit inside Tony's Gym on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

Goodson is also selling t-shirts. He hopes to raise $1500.
