Police sound alert on increased burglaries in East Albany

Albany Police are asking residents to be on alert after a string of residential burglaries over the past two weeks.
Authorities say at least 15-televisions were stolen from homes in several areas of  East Albany between June 6th and 19th.

Car break-ins are also up.

Police have started special deployments in the targeted neighborhoods, but they say they need neighbors to call police and report any suspicious activity.

Albany Police Sergeant Prurince Dice said "They do not have to give their names. They do not have to give their phone numbers.  Their addresses.  Just tell us where the issues are and we'll ensure that we deploy the officers where they need to respond to."

Officials urge you to lock your windows and doors and try to alter your routine so crooks may not be able to know when you're not at home.

To report suspicious activity, call 431-2132.
