Downtown revitalization brings art, food, and jobs to town

FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) - A couple is doing their part to revitalize the city's downtown and bring jobs to the area. Susan Rochfort and her husband are renovating a restaurant on Pine Street.

She's also completing an antique shop, an art gallery, and clothes museum. All the businesses are creating jobs.

"We're just providing the vehicle for them to not only use their talents but literally to contribute to the wonderful growth and history of this town," said Rochfort.

Rotcfort is also building a TV studio next door to all of that where she will film cooking and shopping shows twice a week. The art gallery brings art and antiques from all over the world to Fitzgerald.

The Gallery on Pine Street opened a few weeks ago. The showroom is filled with art from different continents and cultures.

You can stop by just to look, but everything is also for sale.

"It is just a full composition of all of the, what we think is, the most interesting and the best of man's artistry, the use of his hands and the imagination and how it's represented by different cultures," said Rochfort.

She said her favorite item is a duo of wooden dolphins.
