ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An intensive plan is in the works to improve education in Dougherty County.
A representative from the Georgia Department of Education gave school board members an update on the system's strategic planning initiative.
About a year ago, a committee was formed to establish how to improve the system.
Board member Lane Price is on the committee, and says the five year plan is a road map to achieve their goals.
"We're looking at everything from improving the reading for the K through 3 level. We're improving graduation rates, we're looking at dropout. We're looking at the things that are problems for us now," Price said.
Board members are expected to approve their strategic plan next month.
They'll get updates at least quarterly on where each school stands in accomplishing their goals.
