Former dispatcher arrested for prostitution

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A Cook County woman is behind bars in Lowndes County, accused of prostituting at a Valdosta hotel.

Amber Furhman was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the Baymont Hotel after investigators saw a post she made on social media.

Fuhrman had recently left her job as a 911 dispatcher in Turner County and prior to that worked as dispatcher in Berrien and Cook Counties.

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office says they are cracking down on prostitution in order to crack down on human trafficking.

"Unfortunately, the only way to get to the human trafficking is mostly through the prostitutes themselves. This was an ad that was posted on social media that our agents responded to," said Lt. Stryde Jones Lowndes County Sheriff's office.

No human trafficking is believed to be involved in this case. Fuhrman is now charged with prostitution.
