ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The search for a new downtown manager is officially starting over.
New City Manager Sharon Subadan confirmed the job offer to Michael Syphoe was officially retracted after an in-depth background check.
She says the city never sent him $3,000 in moving expenses.
"We are looking for somebody that will come to us with talent and with experience that will be able to help us to really get our downtown manager position filled and our downtown plans moving forward, and yes the offer has been retracted," said Sharon Subadan, Albany City Manager.
The city did not publicize the offer to Syphoe.
Subadan says she does not believe the city was legally required to do so.
She hopes to fill the position within the next 60 days.
