VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Lowndes County leaders believed Tuesday that their budget for the 2016 fiscal year was fiscally sound.
County commissioners were scheduled to approve the $100 million budget at their meeting Tuesday evening, which was set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
Commission Chairman Bill Slaughter said they did have to make some cuts, but the budget would allow the county to continue to serve citizens as best as possible.
"Our plan, initially, is always to continue the growth of the county for the benefit of the citizens and this community as a whole," Slaughter explained. "Certainly, infrastructure's extremely important in that so it plays a big role in that."
