COLQUITT, GA (WALB) - People came together Monday night in a Colquitt neighborhood where a man was shot and killed over the weekend.
Two wounded victims remain hospitalized while the suspect is in jail.
An Evangelist offers uplifting words of encouragement to a Colquitt community mourning the loss of 30 year old Lamaris Miller.
"It was just a standstill moment, in disbelief, couldn't believe what was going on," said Andrea Hopson, co-worker.
"It's a loss for the community, it's gone be really tough, " said Ladedra Dukes, Cousin.
They lit candles, held a moment of silence and, and sang for Miller, his sister Levontia Burr and nephew Damian Lee who police also said were shot on Saturday in the 300 block of 2nd Street by Ralph Rogers. Monday's vigil was organized by Miller's coworker at a local restaurant, Andrea Hopson.
"He was amazing. He was always there by my side making sure that I had everything that I needed when I was doing my work," said Andrea Hopson.
Relatives said Rogers is the boyfriend of Miller's mother. Miller left behind a wife and two children.
"He's a family guy, whenever you saw him he was with his wife or his kids," said Ladedra Dukes.
"He always talked about his kids, his wife, his family and stuff. He was a very good person," said Andrea Hopson.
They're now calling for an end to violence and a uniting of the community.
" Just come together as a community and we just show him some love one more time," said Hopson.
" We just need to get close. We just need to pray and hopefully this is an eye opener," said Ladedra Dukes.
Rogers is charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
Burr and Lee are in good condition at a hospital in Dothan.
