Family remembers Colquitt shooting victim

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is probing the case of a man who was shot to death over the weekend.

Crime tape still lays in the front yard of 30-year-old Lamaris Miller's home where he was shot and killed Saturday afternoon.

"He was joyful, he was happy, he did everything he could to please his family," said Amanda Adams.

Adams is related to Miller's wife. She said Miller has two kids.

She lives across the street and prayed with Miller's wife after hearing the shocking news of his death.

"She was in disbelief. She was just hurt. She just didn't know what to do," Adams said.

They're not exactly sure about what happened Saturday afternoon, but the GBI is investigating the case.

"She's going to really miss him, but I told her that she's going to have to take it day by day," Adams said.

"They're really special people to me and it really hurts me," she said. "And my heart goes out to his wife, his kids, his mother."

Other family members were too upset to speak Sunday. Adams said the other two shooting victims who were hospitalized in Alabama are in her prayers.

They were airlifted to Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

"I pray for my cousin and her family I pray for the victims and their family and I also pray for the person who did this, Adams said."

Thomasville really embraces the Victorian era. It's a time in the city's history when it became a popular winter resort so it seems fitting that the Rose City's holiday theme focuses on this period. And the community gets into the spirit by dressing in Victorian-era clothing.
