Senior Citizen Prom draws good crowd

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Lots of seniors danced the night away at the Albany Civic Center.

The city Recreation and Parks Department sponsored the 12th annual Senior Citizen prom.

Organizers say it's a great way to encourage seniors to get out and enjoy a nice evening downtown.

“You know a lot of times seniors stay at home and they cannot drive, so this is a way for them to come out meet new friends, they can go out to eat, they can go shopping, they can go to the fun park,” says Tee Taylor, Recreation Supervisor.

Some lucky winners even got limo rides to the prom.

They were escorted inside by Marines who also volunteered their time tonight to dance with the seniors.
