AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Individual communities can adopt watering rules that are stricter than the state's.
That's what Americus did several years ago.
City leaders remind citizens to be conservative with water this time of year and make sure they're following the restrictions.
“If you water in the middle of the day its so hot that it will evaporate so fast that a lot of times its not very effective at all, so if you wait till later in the evening when the suns down, you'll have a better saturation of the water that you do use,” says Josh Roth, Planning and Inspection Director.
Folks who live North of Lamar Street can water on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
South of there it's Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and only from midnight until 10:30 a.m.
