Community leaders and young teens bond over neckties

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Community leaders reached out to boys in the Albany area who don't have fathers in their lives. Ties That Bind at Phoebe Northwest brought the two groups together with neckties.

Organizers said the tie represents a rite of passage and a bond between boys and men.

"We know that young boys need to know that they have value, that they're important, that they have a promising future. So today we mixed men of distinction with young boys who may be in need of attention," said Phoebe Putney Community Relations Director Darrell Sabbs.

Phoebe will also have a men's health extravaganza Saturday for father's day weekend.
