Police have definitive persons of interest in Fortress Cir. murder

Brian Childress Brian Childress
VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta's Police Chief said Friday that detectives were getting closer to solving the murder of a man in his home at the beginning of June.

25 year old Marquavius Brockington was shot multiple times shortly after arriving home at 5260 Fortress Cir. around 11:45 p.m. on June 5th.

Detectives found meth and marijuana in the home and believed the shooter may have broken in to steal the drugs, not realizing that Brockington would be coming home.

Chief Brian Childress said he was proud that his detectives had been able to continue to gather new information. "I would argue that our detective bureau is probably better...I'd put them up against anybody in the rest of the country," Chief Childress emphasized. "Our folks have identified what we call persons of interest. Does it mean they've done it? No, just folks that we're focusing on."

Brockington's girlfriend, Toni Tucker, was also shot at as the shooter ran out of Brockington's home but she was not hit.

Call Valdosta Police at (229) 293-3091 if you have any information.
