ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Utility officials said it's important to minimize consumption in helping to cut cost on your utility bills this summer.
Georgia Power officials recommend adding insulation in your attic, floors and walls to help decrease the amount of cooling loss so your A/C units can run less.
They also say you should set your thermostat at 78 degrees.
"For every degree that you are set below 78 you increase by three to four percent a degree. So that's a big difference. Also ceiling fans, you can run ceiling fans. Moving air feels three to five degrees cooler than what still air does," said Jay Smith Georgia Power Area Manager.
