CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Community leaders are confident a satellite career office will open in town. Crews emptied out the old office on 7th Street Wednesday after the state closed the Labor office last week.
The labor commissioner met with state representatives and the Cordele city manager this week to discuss an alternative. One community group is excited that they listened to the communities' concerns.
"We want to maintain that level of professionalism throughout anything and this is a chance for Cordele to maintain and keep something as part of our community for a while," said Pastor Isaac Owens from My Brothers' Keeper.
Owens said they still hope a full scale career center eventually comes back to Cordele.
