LEE CO., GA (WALB) - The Lee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a number of reports of thefts and damage to property in an East Lee County road overnight.
Wednesday morning at least nine people who live between the 700 to 1000 blocks of White Pond Road found their mail boxes broken. Investigators say it appears they were hit with an object from a moving car.
There were also more than a dozen cars rifled by thieves, most of the vehicles were unlocked. One car had all four of its tires slashed.
"This time of the year with school being out, crime does increase. Children are out walking the streets. Parents need to make sure their children are home and accounted for," Lee Co. Sheriff's Major Keith Houston.
So far no arrests in the vandalism and thefts. If you have any information about those on White Pond Road, call CRIMESTOPPERS at 436-TIPS, and you could earn a reward.
