THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -  A $5,000 donation to the South Georgia Chapter of Red Cross will help families in need in Thomas county.

Servepro presented the check to the chapter on Wednesday.

The money was raised at their recent Golf and Give Tournament.

The fire and water cleanup company wanted to show their support for the chapter, which helped over 100 people in Thomas county over the last year.

Executive Director Terri Jenkins said, “I was surprised and shocked.  I just appreciate the support of Servpro.  Our chapter covers 20 counties and Thomas county has always been in the highest top three with the highest number of fires.”

Along with single family house fires, the chapter will also use the money to provide relief for victims of natural disasters.
