Drug agent shoots charging dog

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Drug agents with Thomas County Sheriff's Office went to a house on Ginger Lane in Thomasville, to speak with residents at 301 Ginger Lane. 

When they walked into the yard about 1:20PM, authorities say an unrestrained dog came charging at them.  An officer shot the dog once, wounding it. 

The owner of the dog took the surviving animal to the vet, where it is receiving treatment. 

Thomasville Police, along with Thomas County Sheriff's Office and Animal Control were all on scene. 

The officer who shot the dog is alright.

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the incident.
