ALBANY, GA (WALB) - WALB News 10 has new information in the Albany shooting that left 32-year-old Quentin Cheatham dead.
In an Albany police report, Cheatham's friend Cameron Jones told police that Cheatham asked to look at his AR-15 rifle the night of June 6th.
When he grabbed it back from Cheatham who was holding on to the barrel, it went off.
Jones told police he believed Cheatham was struck near the neck or shoulder and took him to the hospital.
Jones has not been charged in the shooting.
Dougherty District Attorney Greg Edwards said the case remains under investigation as they wait on forensic results that have not been completed.
