There's plenty to enjoy coming up this 4th of July weekend in Albany.

Food, fun, music and fireworks are coming to downtown albany... after taking a break from the location in recent years.

The weekend fun starts off with a movie in the park that Friday night. Vendors open at 5:00 on Saturday with live music in the amphitheater starting at 5:30. Clarence Carter will be performing and the fireworks start at 9:30 in the southeast parking lot of the civic center.

City employees trained in pyrotechnics will put on the elaborate show set to music. Special events coordinator Kristen Caso says, "So its gonna be a really fun event we are really looking forward to bringing it back downtown and providing a great day for the citizens of Albany and Southwest Georgia."

Caso says next year the fireworks will take place off the new Broad Avenue Bridge.

They are looking for more food vendors if you would like more information call Kristin Caso at 229-430-5222
