Shake and bake meth lab busted

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Two Valdosta men were behind bars Tuesday night after getting busted making meth on their front porch.

39 year old Michael Adkins and 34 year old Joel Marme were arrested just before 3 a.m. Monday.

Someone reported a man standing on a porch at the Del Ray Terrace Apartment complex and shaking a two liter bottle. Marme was arrested at the apartment, Adkins was arrested after officers spotted him in a car nearby with the bottle.

"[Officers] caught up with him just a little bit down the road from the apartment complex and was able to detain him and determine that that's probably what's actually called a shake and bake meth lab," said Valdosta Police Department Cpt. Bobbi McGraw.

The apartment complex was evacuated as a precaution while the lab materials found inside were disposed of by VPD and Lowndes County Sheriff's Office narcotics investigators.

Both men were facing multiple meth charges as of Monday evening.

Marme was also facing a charge of being a fugitive from justice out of Tampa, Fl.
