The Valdosta Lowndes Parks and Recreation Authority announced Monday its plans for its annual 4th of July fireworks display.

The fireworks were expected to be launched from an area on the east side of I-75 between exits 16 and 18.

Fireworks were, as of Monday, expected to begin around 9:15 p.m. and VLPRA's Marketing Coordinator, Jessica Catlett, said the VLPRA was preparing to put together an even bigger show than in 2014.

"Last year was probably the best show that we've ever done and this year we plan to exceed last year's show," Catlett said. "Last year's show was a very full show with a great grand finale. This year, we're expecting a much bigger grand finale."

In the event the show is rained out the VLPRA's plan as of Monday was to hold the show on July 5th.
