ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Healthcare prices in Albany are on the decline.
Better Doctor, an online consumer health site, ranked Albany the fifth best in the nation for decreasing medical costs.
The study compared Medicare reports from 2011 to 2013 which saw the cost in Albany drop by just under four percent.
President and CEO of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital is pleased with the results.
"I think it's a confirmation of the fact that we've had a lot of people working very very hard," said Joel Wernick, Phoebe Putney CEO. "That we have tightened our belts, and that we have gone without."
Joel Wernick cites supply cost management and management of labor costs as the keys to lower costs.
