SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - Runway expansion at the Sylvester Municipal Airport is back on track after nearly a year delay.
The city manager says crews will soon begin expanding the runway from 35 hundred feet to 45 hundred feet.
The project was put on hold due to the purchase of wetland credits that were needed to finish the project.
"There was an issue with the wetland credits and we had to go through that process and then due to the changes that were needed in the scope of the project all that had to be negotiated and worked out," said Debbie Bridges, Sylvester City Manager. "We have reached an agreement with our contractor and our attorney is working on that agreement now."
Construction is expected to start back the first week of July.
The project could take up to 8 months to complete.
