The Sylvester Police Department is warning the community of IRS Scams.
Police say several people have fallen victim to the scam after receiving calls from someone claiming to be with the IRS.
The scammer says you have to pay $2400 or you will be arrested by the Sylvester Police Department.
Police say don't answer the call or give out your personal information.
"I'm here to tell everybody that this is a scam," said Lt. Kenneth Washington, Sylvester Police Department. "This is not the way the IRS operates. The IRS will not call you, they will not arrest you. They will write you a letter if they think that you owe them anything."
Police plan on hosting a town hall meeting in the next couple of weeks to educate the community on scam prevention.
