ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Area high-schoolers get a unique chance to learn valuable self-defense techniques at Albany State today. Dozens of kids were able to put that knowledge to the test with Albany State police officers.
Organizers hope the students walked out knowing how to defend themselves.
"Safety is the most important thing and being able to have the mindset to defend yourself is a great asset," said Lt. Marcus Guess with the Albany State Police Department.
"I learned that we should use self defense when we're in public and someone's trying to attack us. And we also use it when someone else is being attacked and we want to help them out,' said participant Cariesha Clayton.
Students also learned basic Spanish phrases in another part of class.
