ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County's Deputy EMA director is stepping down for some much needed R & R.
Jim Vaught has been in Albany for 17 years and with the Albany Fire Department for 11 years.
Before that, Vaught spent 27 years in the military and lived all over the world.
He says Albany is home and plans on staying here.
"I'm fortunate that my daughter and son in law and grandchildren are here. I just look forward to retiring here sitting in my back yard enjoying coffee and watching the birds and squirrels play and taking it easy for a while."
His successor has not yet been named.
