DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - Coffee Co. Sheriff Doyle Wooten reports that on Tuesday evening, June 10th, Douglas – Coffee Drug Unit detectives arrested Lewis Wilcox on a marijuana charge.
K-9 officers, Coffee County Sheriff's deputies, and the Georgia State Patrol executed a search warrant at 704 Sellers Street in Douglas.
Wilcox, 20, was arrested with two ounces of marijuana individually packaged in 55 baggies and digital scales.
Wilcox has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of public housing.
Investigators were following an investigation after a couple was arrested for buying marijuana with their two infant children present.
Last Thursday, DCDU arrested Manning 'D. J.' Tanner and Amanda Tanner after they had purchased marijuana from 704 Sellers Street, with their two infant children in the vehicle with them.
The children were released to a family member, and DFACS was contacted. This arrest, along with complaints from citizens of the area led to the investigation.
Manning Tanner is currently serving a probated sentence for an unrelated drug offense, and is charged with driving with a suspended license.
The couple was charged with purchase of marijuana.
Officials with DFACS told the drug unit they already had an open case on the Tanners.
