EDISON, GA (WALB) - A woman has been charged with the murder of her 7-week-old daughter after it was found unresponsive.
According to a report, 20-year-old Breanna Middleton called Edison Police shortly after midnight, on June 3rd.
She told them her seven week old daughter, Kamryn, was unresponsive at her home on Tower Drive.
An officer performed CPR on the baby, but she didn't respond. EMS took the baby to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was later called in.
Officials say a preliminary scan showed bleeding on the brain. An autopsy was done the next morning, which found damage to Kamryn's brain.
Middleton was arrested June 4th and was taken to the Calhoun County jail.
She was charged with family violence battery, cruelty to children in the first degree, cruelty to children in the third degree, felony murder, and malice murder.
Middleton had her first court appearance on June 5th, when bond was deferred to superior court. They are waiting on the judge to schedule her bond hearing, and should know something more in a week or so.
