BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

Several teenagers in Bainbridge are volunteering to honor men and women who served our country.

Teens at the Friendship House of Jesus used supplies donated from the Home Depot to create sturdier holders for American flags that decorate the grave sites of veterans.

Retired Colonel Ben Fuller served 22 years in the Air Force. He said programs like this are important for kids to appreciate our country.

"I think they do need to know that people have given their lives for their country,"said Fuller. "I think it's a really neat idea. We need more of it happening in more towns and cities."

Bainbridge residents raised more than one thousand dollars to purchase small American flags for every veteran grave site in town.
